How to find a Fog Bow

I love fog, so I was delighted to be out of isolation for the 4 days of fog we've had recently, and pop out for my exercise with my camera.

My home is quite high so we've been looking out from glorious sunshine onto a blanket of cloud down below.

The edge of the fog is often the best area to be, where the sun breaks to warm the scene. It's here where you'll find fogbows too. You need to look carefully. I don't think they're as 'rare' as some people seem to think, but they are harder to spot, because you're looking for a white arc on a white background. On Monday I made my way to the ever changing edge of the fog.

You'll need the sun shining on your back, illuminating the bank of fog opposite it. and that's it. Look carefully. Unfortunately for me this week, the location wasn't very interesting, being on a featureless fell top, but had the edge of the fog been lower in the valley, there might have been an opportunity to include trees, sheep etc in the composition.

I hope it's not too long till we get some more nice sunny mornings & fog and I'll have another go. In the meantime, here are some of the images I captured in the valley below.
